Extra week of nursery fees? I am legally binded to pay!?
My son started nursery in August 07, he was attending the nursery on a part time basis for 1 day a week, whilst I was on training. The nursery said nothing about paying in advance as it was only 1 day a week. Now in 09, they state that they will charge me 1 week extra this month, as I do not pay the initial payment of 1 week in advance at the start of the nursery.
I am disputing this as my son attended only for one day and they want me to pay over £170, which is the weekly amount to date.
The amount in 07, was £155 per week.
I have looked at the nursery contract which I signed and it does not state that an initial payment of one weeks fees need to be paid up front. However, it does state that a non-refundable deposit of £100 needs to be paid. I was not told this when signing the contract, nor was I asked to pay this when my invoice was sent.
There must be something which I can do to about this, I am refusing to pay this amout.
It doesn't sound like they are making you pay an EXTRA month, ti sounds like they are switching you to a payment in advance system, which apparently you would have normally been paying previously.
So while you'll pay an extra week at the beginning, you will end up even, since eventually your last week will be paid already.
That's really not that unusual, but if you think it is, move to a new nursery.
