Playing streaming video on my mac?
I just hooked up DSL to my PowerMac G5 and I'm trying to watch Lost from the ABC website. Whether I play in Standard or High Definition, or play in a small window or full screen, there are little, millisecond hang-ups in the video and audio every few seconds. It's enough to be intolerable.
For the record, the ABC website uses a Flash player to play episodes.
I'm using Safari and my system surpasses the requiremts shown on the website:
- Dual processors
- 1G ram
- 128 video ram
- 2mbps connection
My Mac has:
- Dual 2Ghz processors
- 2.5 gigs of ram
- 128 of video ram
- Confirmed 2.6mbps connection speed
I've Reset Safari and emptied the cache. I've closed all other programs. I've repaired permissions. I've even looked for an Internet Explorer download but there doesn't seem to be IE for Mac, which I was surprised to find. I'm even using a basic color as my desktop wallpaper. I can't think of anything else.
Can anybody suggest anything?
Micrsoft stopped IE for Mac at IE4.0
Assuming you have Adobe Flash installed on your Mac you should be able to watch the episodes with no problems.
I also have FlipforMacWMV on my iMac and can watch just about any format I want online.
