What is the best type of curtain to hang on a bay window?
Do I hang one huge one over all three of the windows or should I get a separate curtain for each one? Does anyone make giant bay-window shaped curtains? I'm so clueless!
You have several options, actually. You should hang one continuous window topper to make the unit look cohesive. From there, it just depends on the effect you want. For a more formal look you cand do one of two things. Either hang matching pairs of drapes and sheers on each window using tiebacks, or hang one drapery panel on each end over your sheers and tie them back. Or you could use either option without sheers if you desire a view and privacy is not an issue. This is considered a more formal look.
You could take the long scarves available and swag one or more colors for a simpler look. This window topping could also be used with or without sheers.
I have even put beautiful draperies and topper over bamboo matchstick blinds. Your options are pretty much as open as your imagination will allow. Just remember, it's your home and it should be something YOU like. Every great window or room design comes about when someone gets an idea and tries it.
As for the question regarding window hardware, yes there are pieces available at Pennys, Sears and other places offering larger assortments of window rods. Or you could use individual rod sets for some of the treatments mentioned and purchase the single accessory (which is pricey) for the window topper. Good luck (and have fun with it)!
